Yogav- Is 7 years old and diagnosed on the Autism spectrum with medium to high function. He lives with his parents in the South of Israel and is an only child. Eitan has difficulty regulating his senses and communicating with people around him. Eitan and his family have great difficulty when leaving their house in order to go to public places, these places are usually full of stimulation and can cause him to lose the ability to control his response to this sensory overload. Moving from place to place is also very difficult for Eitan and makes his lack of communication even worse. Eitan has received a service dog trained specifically to help him. His chocolate colored Labrador is called Ruby. Ruby helps Eitan and his family to deal with all the difficulties mentioned above. Primarily Ruby increases Eitan's feeling of independence and safety, and acts as an 'anchor' when he must move from place to place. Through his special connection with Ruby, Eitan is learning how to communicate with others around him, and is enabling Eitan to regulate his behavior in response to over stimulation.

  • TZuriel- Is 25 years old and suffers from Post traumatic disorder caused by his service in the IDF. One of the main symptoms of his PTSD is Disassociation (disconnecting from reality). Caused by stressful situations, this usually means that Tzuriel will lose consciousness (pass out) sometimes between 7-8 times a day. Before he received his service dog Eva (golden Labrador) Tzuriel would avoid leaving the house, was close to abandoning his studies to be a PE teacher and stopped running long distance which he previously excelled at. (Israeli long-distance running champion). Today together with Eva – Tzuriel has returned to running and has even taken part in a 5 km Tel Aviv race together with his 4 legged partner. Instead of staying home, scared to pass out in public and worried what people may think or say, Tzuriel now takes part in University social events, safe in the knowledge that Eva is by his side, trained to help him in times of need and bring him around and back to reality quicker than any doctor could dream of doing. Needless to say, that Eva not only helps Tzuriel personally but also his entire family, as they no longer need to accompany Tzuriel, they too rely on Eva.
